Zang Fu Organs (TCM)
Zang - Solid
Zang refers to the solid yin organs, liver (green), heart (red), lungs (white), spleen (yellow) and kidneys (blue/black), Pericardium (red-minsteral fire) the essential functions of the zang consist in manufacturing, storing qi and blood.
Fu - Hollow
Fu refers to the yang hollow organs, gallbladder (green), small intestine (red), large intestine (white), stomach (yellow) and unitary bladder (blue/black), the main purpose of the fu organs is to transmit and digest.
The Triple Warmer (sanjiao, red-ministerial fire) although part of the meridian system is not recognized as an organ in the west and as such is not considered as full solid or empty organ and so its energy lives on the peripheral of the ZangFu, but has a connection with the endocrine system and the psyche controlling or helping metaphysical energy throughout the systems.
Note: zangfu
on the outer part of the body i.e. the back, backs of legs and arms etc. are considered yang ex. large intestine meridian - Hand Yangming. However zangfu on the inner part of the body i.e. the chest, inner arms and legs are called yin ex. lungs meridian - Hand Taiyin.
